Geography, GeoInformatics and Meteorology: Referencing & EndNote

This guide assists students, staff, and researchers in accessing subject-specific and informational resources.

Introduction

Please note:

In academic writing, it is essential to give credit to the ideas and words of other authors by properly citing and referencing your sources. Citing involves directly quoting or mentioning the work and ideas of others within your text, while referencing provides a detailed list of all the sources you’ve cited, allowing readers to locate the original materials. Not properly acknowledging your sources is considered as plagiarism!!!!!

Before choosing a reference style, please consult with your lecturer on which style and variation thereof should be used.

Citation Manager

The University of Pretoria subscribes to EndNote which is a citation management tool used to organise and store references.

This nice thing with this tool is that it allows you to sync between your desktop and online libraries and it allows you to share it with your group members if you working on a group assignment.
