Every human on earth is part of the solution. There are some super easy things we can adopt into our routines that, if we all do it, will make a big difference. Have a look at just a few of the many things you can do to make an impact!
Many of the SDGs have direct or indirect connections with animal welfare. Animals, both domestic and wild, contribute significantly to sustainable human development and their welfare supports human well-being in all its forms. Most of the Sustainable Development Goals rely on animal welfare and wildlife conservation, although few of the goals mentioned animals directly. To be able to allocate veterinary research and activities to the different UN SDG's the descriptions, facts and figures from FAO experts and from the literature are used to describe how animals are connected to the different Goals. Elements from a working paper currently being developed by the Animal Production and Health Division of FAO are also used. From the published reports it is clear that the veterinary professions are uniquely placed at the human-animal-environment interface to address the SDGs. The SDGs cannot be fully achieved without incorporating animal welfare and conservation into the strategies.

Contested Ecologies by
Focusing on moments in which contests over ecology become moments for rethinking the ecology of knowledge, the papers in this volume engage contests over nature in a wide variety of settings, from urban Cape Town and indigenous activism in Peru to Mugabe’s Zimbabwe and the Benguela ecosystem fisheries and protected areas in Aboriginal territories of northern Australia. The contributors to this book have been part of an 18-month-long research project that explores contests over ecologies in Southern Africa, Latin America, and Australia. The product of three writing workshops over that period and two visits by each of the international writers, the book sets up a wonderfully rich dialogue across the global south.
Game ranch management by
The growth of the wildlife industry in South Africa can be measured by the growth in the number of wildlife ranches. In 1965 there were only four wildlife-fenced properties in the former north-western Transvaal. By 2005, 40 years later, there were more than 10 000 properties with wildlife exemption permits in the nine provinces combined. As the wildlife industry continues to expand, so too does the need for scientific knowledge upon which it must be based.

One Welfare by
Contemporary and thought-provoking, this book provides a definition of the concept of One Welfare: the interconnection between animal welfare, human wellbeing and the environment. The book establishes a conceptual framework, in five sections, resulting from a three month global consultation on a draft proposal comprising nine areas.
