Linear Electric Actuators and Generators, I. Boldea, Syed A. Nasar, 1997

This book deals with LEAs that convert electric energy into controlled mechanical motion of limited travel and LEGs that transform mechanical energy into electric energy. Examples range from loudspeakers and microphones to magnetically levitated material transfer in ultraclean rooms. Much of the literature on linear actuators and generators covers the principles of operation and performance calculations of these devices. Little has been published on their control or on detailed design methodologies.

Front cover image for MIMO radar signal processing MIMO radar signal processing Jian Li, Petre Stoica, 2009

Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar has been receiving increasing attention from researchers, practitioners, and funding agencies. This is the first book to present a comprehensive and coherent picture of this emerging field, which is likely to become the standard reference in the field. The book introduces recent developments in MIMO radar in a tutorial manner to stimulate new concepts, theories, and applications on the topic, as well as to foster further cross-fertilization of ideas with MIMO communications. It is valuable for radar system designers, research groups, and graduate stu.

DNA beyond genes: from data storage and computing to nanobots, nanomedicine, and nanoelectronics, Vadim V Demidov 2020

Front cover image for DNA beyond genes : from data storage and computing to nanobots, nanomedicine, and nanoelectronics

This is the first book portraying to a wide readership many fields of DNA in the world of materials altogether in a single volume. The book provides underlying concepts and state-of-art developments in the emerging fields of DNA electronics, structural DNA nanotechnology, DNA computing and DNA data storage, DNA machines and nanorobots. Future possibilities of innovative DNA-based technologies, such as DNA cryptography, DNA identity tags, DNA nanostructures in biosensing and nanomedicine, as well as DNA-based nanoelectronics are all covered, too. This book is valuable for university students studying engineering and technology; biotech, nanotech, and medical device R & D managers, practitioners and investors; and IP analysts who would like to extend their background in advanced DNA technologies.

Nonlinear model predictive control : towards new challenging applications Lalo Magni, Davide Martino Raimondo and Frank Allgöwer 2009

Annotation Over the past few years significant progress has been achieved in the field of nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC), also referred to as receding horizon control or moving horizon control. More than 250 papers have been published in 2006 in ISI Journals. With this book we want to bring together the contributions of a diverse group of internationally well recognized researchers and industrial practitioners, to critically assess the current status of the NMPC field and to discuss future directions and needs. The book consists of selected papers presented at the International Workshop on Assessment an Future Directions of Nonlinear Model Predictive Control that took place from September 5 to 9, 2008, in Pavia, Italy.
