Transformational / Read & Publish (R&P) Agreements
This guide provides an overview of the Read and Publish Agreements negotiated by the South African National Library and Information Consortium (SANLiC).
Background: SANLiC has negotiated and signed a number of agreements for South African Higher Education Institutions. The list of current negotiated agreements is now available allowing South Africans to publish in Gold Open Access journals. The Department of Library Services (DLS) is also part of the SANLiC agreements and has recently signed the Transformational Agreements (TAs) also known as Read and Publish (R&P) agreements with these publishers: Wiley, Hindawi, Emerald, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), American Chemical Society (ACS), Springer Nature, Elsevier (ScienceDirect), Taylor & Francis, The Royal Society of Chemistry, The Company of Biologists, and SAGE. The DLS currently supports researchers with Article Processing Charges (APCs) also known as publication fees. These APCs and TAs/ R & P agreements are efforts to advance open science practices and to increase Gold Open Access Publishing at the University of Pretoria. |
Publish articles open access in hybrid journals negotiated by SANLiC and South African University Libraries Corresponding authors affiliated with participating SANLiC institutions of which the University of Pretoria is part of may publish open access at no cost to the author. Please note! our agreement with Elsevier is on hybrid open access journals only but if authors choose to publish in gold open access journals they are required to pay APCs and Elsevier will offer a 15% discount on APCs.
Alternatively, search the Integrated Alphabetical List of Journals from ACM, ACS, Emerald, Wiley, Hindawi, Springer Nature, Elsevier (Science Direct), Taylor & Francis, The Royal Society of Chemistry, SAGE, and The Company of Biologists. Please note that some titles are capped.
