Welcome to the Music subject guide. This is a one-stop guide for students, researchers, and staff of the Music Department.
This guide is designed to help Music Students find useful resources and make the most of the library's services. Our students have access to a wide range of materials, including books, journals, reference works, composers' biographies, music scores, audio and video recordings, as well as online resources that support their studies.
Our friendly library staff are always on hand to provide assistance and training. We invite you to reach out and make the most of our library’s resources—whether you need guidance on finding materials or support with research, we’re here to help!
The Music Library is located in the Musaion Building on the Hatfield Campus.
Established in 1960 alongside the Department of Music, the Music Library was set up as a unique branch of the Department of Library Services to house its specialized collection. Today, it offers an extensive range of materials, including books, serials, sheet music, CDs, gramophone records, DVDs, and videos. Orchestral music is a prominent part of the sheet music collection. The library also provides audio-visual facilities, including listening stations and a soundproof room for viewing videos and DVDs.
Please reach out to us via email for book and score orders, training requests, interlibrary loans, or general inquiries.
