Researcher visibility

"Universities must increase the visibility of their research to demonstrate the contribution they make to the knowledge economy, improve their chances in the competition for government research funding and position themselves well to work with industry or third sector partners." - Neil Jacobs

How to improve Researcher Visibility

ORCID

ORCID stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID.  It is a sixteen-digit permanent digital identifier for researchers.  It is an international standard to help researchers to establish and maintain their scholarly identity.  It aims to solve common issues such as:

  • not getting credit for our research because your name is common or because you have published using a different version of your name
  • struggling to find a central place to keep track of all your research outputs
  • having to spend time entering the same information over and over in publisher and grant submission systems
