The Open Scholarship Programme provides services that support the research-intensive needs of the research, teaching and learning communities at the University of Pretoria.

What is ‘Open Scholarship’? The term embraces open access and all other forms of openness in the scholarly and research environment.

The following services are provided:

• the development and maintenance of the UPSpace institutional repository
• submission of research papers/articles
• submission of electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) on UPSpace
• advising on and facilitating of UP Journals and management on open journal initiatives, including OJS
• promotion and support of open-access publishing through Article Processing Charges (APCs) and Transformative/Read and Publish  agreements
