Library material may be returned at the Lending section of any library.
OR
After Hours box at all libraries. The box will be emptied ONCE daily ten minutes after opening time.
OR
Dropbox at University road entrance. Manned 24 h per day.
Short term loans and specific items e.g. pictures, sheet music etc. may only be returned at the library of origin.
Loans with special permission should also be returned to the Information Specialist who gave the initial permission, after it was checked in at the Lending section.
Fines will be added if applicable and must be paid in due course.
Take note once books are overdue or with fines, online renewal will not be possible.
Open collection books can be renewed unless it is reserved by another library user. If placed on hold, the book must be returned strictly on time.
Books requested and borrowed via interlending may be renewed depending on the borrowing restrictions and time limits placed by the lending library. Please consult Access & Lending staff at the desk or send an email to interlending@up.ac.za
Courtesy notices will be sent 3 days before the items are due. The library is not liable for non–receipt of these mails. Please keep your current e-mail address updated on the UP Portal.
Options to renew library material:
- Send us an e-mail or click on the link for Ask a Librarian / Chat to a Librarian
- Add your student/personnel/card number and the details of the book you want to renew.
- Send an email to request a renewal to wmscirc@up.ac.za or click on the link for Ask a Librarian / Chat to a Librarian
- Give your student/personnel/card number and the details of the book you want to renew.
Borrowing History:
Please activate your borrowing history on your library record for later reference. It will only be available from the date of activation.
